Find Out More About Yourself With Ancestry DNA Testing

Many people, especially in the United States, don't have a strong sense of heritage and might not even know who they are descended from.

This creates a feeling of loss for people and they seek out a way to find out where they are from originally. They can ask relatives but chances are not many of them know much themselves or have forgotten over the generations. With the flourishing of DNA technology, you can get an Ancestry DNA test done on yourself or other family members to get a general idea of what ethnic background you have and what area your family originated in. Many people do genealogy charts but sometimes there just isn't enough information available for them to go back very far.

This applies to people who are adopted also. They may not have any substantial medical history information and by getting an Ancestry test done, will be able to give doctors a little bit more information about their background. Many regions throughout the Earth have let people evolve with slight differences and immunities. This is easily found through a test such as this.

Every different type of race and groups from around the globe have AIM's or Ancestry Informative Markers that can be found in their DNA. By analyzing DNA and specifically charting these specific genetic areas, scientists are able to give you a very accurate chart that will list your ethnicity. This is usually represented by numbers and graphs. If you are predominately European but had an Asian grandmother, you should be about 25% Asian in your genetic makeup. This will be reflected in the results that you receive when your testing is complete. This method is the most reliable DNA Ancestry testing available right now and commonly is called BGA or BioGeographical Ancestry. There are other testing methods that focus on different areas but they are harder to understand and if you live in a relatively young country like the United States, might only go back a couple generations. The BGA type tests span an enormous time line and go back to your "True" heritage and the beginnings of your bloodline.

There isn't really a practical application for this type of testing and is geared mostly to people who are curious about there heritage and have little or no knowledge of their blood line. This testing process usually runs the same as most DNA analysis which is around the $400 mark. Some programs keep all these results in databases and you can access their programs to see if you have relatives out there. They won't necessarily be related to you as your brothers and cousins but you could have a mutual ancestor somewhere throughout history. This is a very interesting project that many people are becoming involved in.
