Why DNA Testing Centers?

DNA testing centers are popping up all over the place. It has become a big business and a sought after service for people in various fields of business.

DNA testing centers assist law enforcement, courts, medical companies and hospitals, and private individuals. Most large cities have a few DNA testing centers. If your town is over 100,000 people, you probably have one also. Universities usually have DNA testing centers for research and testing of their own.

Law enforcement relies on DNA testing centers to analyze all the different bodily fluids and tissues they find at crime scenes. All it takes is one drop of blood from an accused murderer to mean the difference between freedom and life imprisonment. DNA testing centers that work for law enforcement hire personnel that are specifically trained and educated for handling this type of delicate material. When people's lives are on the line, you can't afford to hire people that might mishandle or contaminate evidence. This rarely occurs but even the most highly trained individual makes mistakes once in a while. Most DNA centers have a policy to double or even triple check all their results to make sure they are 100% accurate.

DNA testing plays an integral role in the court system. Child support and custody issues are very common as the divorce rate remains high and many people use DNA evidence to prove they are someone's father or not their father. Child support could cost people hundreds of dollars each month and if they aren't the biological parent they shouldn't have to pay for anything unless they adopted that child.

Hospitals and universities sometimes have on-site DNA testing facilities so they can act quickly and not wait for results they have to send away. They engage in all types of genetic research and are using DNA testing to find out where certain diseases originate, and hopefully develop cures or treatments for them. A good example is cystic fibrosis. This disease is passed on through the generations when certain conditions are met and they have found where in the DNA it is located but the technology isn't quite to the point where we can manipulate DNA. It will be coming soon though and having many centers working together on projects will increase the speed of these great discoveries. DNA testing centers are available in your local area and many are online. The online DNA testing centers cater mostly to private individuals who are looking to establish paternity and for immigration use and can be more expensive than one in your town. If you are a private individual looking for a DNA center for something, they might be in your local yellow pages. If not, you can always check around on line but make sure they have guarantees in place and people to tell you in detail about the services they offer.
